We will work together as I help you develop the backbone of your story prior to writing your first draft. This process will begin with brainstorming how to start and end your novel by determining the point of your story, your character’s deepest desires, and the why of it all.

Week 1:          Building the Backbone

  • Worksheet 1: Includes 4 exercises to begin the story writing process
    • Exploring your deep-rooted desire to write this book
    • Creating the universal concept of the point of your story
    • Developing an extensive understanding of your protagonist
    • Beginning the first steps in your worldbuilding process

Week 2:          Character Development

  • Worksheet 2: Includes 2 exercises that develops character motivation and backstory
    • An extensive dive into the stakes of your protagonist
    • Writing a scene of your protagonist’s misbelief

Week 3:          All Characters Must Change

  • Worksheet 3: Includes 3 intense exercises
    • Sketching out the plot utilizing Cause & Effect Trajectory

    Week 2:          Character Development

      • Expanding on the motivations of the main character
      • Creating backstory, complete with misbeliefs and an origin story

    Week 3/4:       World Building & Plot Development

    • Note: This section may take more than one week to complete and is open for further discussion.

      • Developing a world that is believable for the readers

    Week 4/5:       All Characters Must Change

    • Worksheet 4: These 3 exercises will begin with writing exercises that the main character begins in one place and winds up in another through the process of change
      • Writing an Opening Scene
      • Writing the Ah-Ha Moment

    Week 5/6:       Putting it all Together

    • Worksheet 5: There are two exercises in the final section
      • Developing a Inside Outline: This exercise will take time, as it entails understanding both the internal, as well as external drive of the main character as she moves through the story
